Our Environment

We are committed to bringing the magic of play to children and families responsibly, thereby preserving future generations of fun. In recent years, we have focused on understanding our environmental footprint and evaluating ways to minimize the impact of our operations.

Climate Action Plan

Our Climate Action Plan is focused on fulfilling our obligation to future generations, being responsible stewards of the planet they will one day inherit.

Scope 1 and 2 Emissions

Starting with self-generated emissions, our path to net-zero emissions (1) in Scopes 1 and 2 by 2050 will be supported by several initiatives, such as:

Transition to electric vehicles
Reduction of in-house manufacturing
Updating leased building standards and improving energy efficiency
Acquisition of renewable energy certificates, regionally targeted, for no more than 5-10% of total emissions (1) The goals are absolute and our base year is 2019.

Scope 3

Currently, there is no viable pathway to achieving net-zero emissions in Scope 3, as there are no solutions to comprehensively reduce the main components of these emissions. As a company based on innovation and creativity, we believe that progress will emerge in this area in the future. Therefore, our plan details important initiatives aimed at implementing pilot solutions in our Scope 3 footprint, including:

Reduce the use of virgin plastic and incorporate sustainable design into our toy portfolio
Collaborate directly with Tier 1 suppliers in their emissions reduction efforts
Diversifying our supply chain into lower-carbon jurisdictions

Packaging

Although packaging is an important component in protecting a product and maintaining shelf presence, the materials used in packaging have an environmental footprint that needs to be managed. We have set several goals to contribute to this effort:

Reduce plastic in our packaging by 50% by 2025
Using eco-friendly inks on 50% of our packaging by 2025

Sustainable Materials for Products

We are committed to moving towards more sustainable materials in our toys and games, while maintaining the high quality our consumers have come to expect from Spin Master. Our focus includes:

Reduce the amount of plastic used in products
Research biodegradable/compostable or recycled materials for our products
Simplify the manufacture of products so that they can be recovered, dismantled and recycled into new products.
TerraCycle® Partnership

We have partnered with TerraCycle to provide toy recycling in the United States. TerraCycle is an innovative recycling company that has become a global leader in recycling hard-to-recycle materials, with a mission to "Eliminate the Idea of Waste®."
